If the funeral is on another day, the state government will pay homage to the late former president on the same day, the state government said. September 1 is State Police Day. After the death of Pranab Mukherjee, that day will be celebrated on September 8. State Home Secretary Alapan Banerjee told ABP Anand, "The Centre's instructions on mourning will be followed in the state as well."

The national flag will be at half-mast. Tomorrow there will be a holiday in all government and government-run institutions. If tomorrow is the last rite, it is another matter.
