Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy. Did he fail the medical examination? At one time he used to drive a taxi in the city! Mountbatten wanted him as chief minister'
Grandmother named Bhajan. And Keshab Chandra Sen was present on the day of his good name. The meritorious son of Patna came to Calcutta for higher studies and did all the deeds that can be said in Bullet Point.
1)Bidhanchandra did not have a special desire to study medicine, but applied for a form at Shibpur Engineering and Calcutta Medical College. He applied for the medical form earlier. Filled and sent. Later he did not apply as the form of Shibpur Engineering College came.
2)Lived at College Street YMCA. Lack of money, the masters used to give the student the opportunity to become a mail nurse at the home of rich patients in his spare time. The fee for twelve hours duty at the patient's house is eight rupees. The word mail nurse is not heard much nowadays. Some now say that nursing does not mean that girls are exclusive.
3)Bidhan Chandra Roy was a part-time taxi driver in Kolkata in the first phase of his practice.
4)Great men cannot stay completely away from the tireless pain of the times. It is good to know that the one whose medical reputation went to the level of legend one day failed the MB examination of Calcutta Medical College. Again, he went to Britain with only Rs 1,200 and in two years earned the final honors of Medicine and Surgery, MRCP and FRCS almost simultaneously.
When Dr. Roy returned to Calcutta from Britain in 1911, he had only five rupees. Before going to Britain, Bidhanbabu's fee in Calcutta was two rupees.
Originally his address was 67/1 Harrison Road, later near Dilkhush Cabin, 84 Harrison Road. He was there until 1916, after which he came to his home in
Wellington Street. It is learned that in an effort to increase his income, he set up a pathological laboratory at home to test blood.
The fight continued. His role was important not only as a doctor but also as the administrative head of the state. Had Bidhan Chandra Roy not taken the initiative himself without heeding the government rules, the release of 'Pather Panchali' might have created a deep complication. Even after becoming the Chief Minister, he used to see patients at his residence in the morning for free.
But he did not even pay attention to the fact that his body was running out. In this way he took himself to another height. Became a part of history itself. Bidhanchandra Roy did not learn to leave the battlefield!
He was a famous doctor. And that's why he realized, the body is not going well. The last few days of life have suffered in many ways. Has had a heart attack. How many people did he heal? How many people were saved from death! Among his patients were Motilal Nehru, Mahatma Gandhi, Chittaranjan Das and many more. However, he said during his illness, no medicine can save him. He realized that his end was drawing to a close, and a black screen was slowly descending. But who knew, he would be gone forever on his birthday.
He was then the Chief Minister of West Bengal. Relatives and friends have appeared at home. Surgeon and friend Lalit Mohan Bandyopadhyay appeared. He also drank a glass of fruit juice every day. Then he spoke of his long life. He has no dissatisfaction. As if an infinite peace is coming down all around. Gradually the feet became cold.
At one point the heart stopped beating. The day is July 1, 1962. Basanti Devi, the wife of Chittaranjan Das, is still alive. He said, “Bidhan is a saint, so he left on his birthday. Lord Buddha was also buried on his birthday. ” Birth and death on the same day — such a strange coincidence that the person involved is Dr. Bidhanchandra Roy. He has created many myths in his whole life. There was no desire to be a doctor; Yet this work became the best.
His name spread beyond India. But there is another amazing legend involved with his life. Which ends in an incomplete love story. Why did Bidhan Roy remain in Chirkumar? If he had a family, he might not have done so much irregularity on the body. His close friends used to say the same thing. But why? Let's start with a story to answer this why. Then Bidhan Roy has just passed his medical examination. Practice has also started little by little. Earnings are not very high. He is also very rich in terms of family, but he is not. Ordinary middle class Bengali family. At that time there was a heart-to-heart exchange with Kalyani, the daughter of the legendary doctor Nilratan Sarkar.
At one time Nilratan came to know the news. One day he called Bidhan. Asked about his earnings. Hearing the figure, Nilratan replied that his daughter's hand expenses were more than that. Bidhan Roy did not like the answer. Understood, this relationship will not end. Did that emotion keep him alone forever? He remained unmarried? At least the proverb says so! But is there any written evidence of this? No! However, the story that has reached the mouths of people in the twenty-first century, can he be blown away with a single blow!In parallel with this incident, another chapter of Bidhan Chandra Roy's life is covered. Then he was in the chair of the Chief Minister. The city was built in 1950 at a place in Nadia district, 50 km from Kolkata. During World War II, the area along the Ganges was a small U.S. military colony called Roosevelt City.
The next time Bidhanchandra made 'Kalyani' there. Is the name very coincidental? According to many, Bidhan Roy chose this name from the memory of his incomplete marriage with his beloved Kalyani. Today Kalyani is a smart city. What is the legendary love story hidden behind modernity?
Strangely, whenever the topic of Dr. Bidhanchandra Roy came up in history, his teacher Nilratan Roy came up in comparison. The two were also involved in Rabindranath's treatment.
But the name is also involved in one of the tragedies of life. But he did not learn to lose on the stage of life.
