Sourendranath Dey was born in 1944 in the Kalitala area of ​​Srirampur. The family situation was not so prosperous. But from an early age, his interest in reading, especially math, surprised everyone. And so he continued his studies on the strength of his own talent.After completing his primary education at Srirampur Union School and then pre-university level studies from Srirampur College, he was admitted to Vidyasagar College. He graduated from there and later obtained a master's degree in applied mathematics from Calcutta University.

Then he joined teaching after getting PhD. He was a professor of mathematics and statistics at Herambachandra College (City College) in South Calcutta. Besides, Saurendranath Dey has taught part-time at Shivnath Shastri College and Mahadevananda College in Barrackpore.
However, even while teaching in college, he thought that mathematics education should start after secondary level. Especially at this time the students are acquainted with the new application of mathematics. And this is the time when fear of numbers works the most.

That is why books for class XI and XII were written for those students. However, he was not only writing books, he was also responsible for teaching talented students on his own responsibility. Even his students have learned that he has guided many students with or without pay. This open-hearted man became a close relative of Vaidyabati city.
